FIRST LEGO League Competition Launches Bywater to State Championship

All five of our Clubs brought home awards in the Regional FIRST LEGO League  Robotics Tournament December 12th at South River High School. A total of sixteen regional teams, five from our Clubs, competed for a berth in the State Competition this January. All of our teams had impressive results in this exciting, fun-filled, educational robotics event.  Our Bywater Club earned one of the two coveted "Judges Awards" based on their exemplary team-work and the seven core values that FIRST LEGO League encourages. This award propelled them into the State Competition in January.

Freetown kids exhibit gracious professionalism giving away blow pops to kids of another team. Gracious professionalism is an important core value of FLL whereby teams compete to win and at the same time make friends and cheer for other teams’ accomplishments.

Their conclusion is that public transportation is the best mode of transportation because it is available to the younger and older members of their families. They also stated that bike transportation is great for kids.

Two of our Freetown girls having a great time at the FLL regional tournament.   Our goal is work towards a 50 - 50 ratio of girls and boys in our LET’S GO programs. Females are underrepresented in the professional fields of science and engineering. We want to prime the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) educational pipeline with our smart young girls.
