Join the "Make A Difference Project" by mentoring local youth at BGCAA. The minimum commitment is one hour a week for three months and the experience could be life changing. Learn more on February 2nd at our informative orientation taking place from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club at Wiley H. Bates Heritage Park (121 South Villa Avenue, Annapolis). Feb 3 - ArtMakers of Annapolis Exposing the Arts While Preserving Communities The Boys & Girls Club at Annapolis Gardens will host their quarterly "ArtMakers of Annapolis" program from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. The Youth of the Year Award is the highest honor a Club Member can receive. The award recognizes Club members' service to Club, community and family; academic success; strong moral character; life goals; and poise and public speaking ability. While BBQ teams compete for cash prizes and bragging rights, you will enjoy live music from 25 bands on two stages. Many different types of food and drink will be available including some cooked by the competing BBQ teams. Numerous regional artists and craftsmen will also take part in the festivities. The barBAYq is hosted by the Parole Rotary Foundation with all proceeds benefiting BGCAA and the Anne Arundel Medical Center Pediatrics Emergency Inpatient Unit. Students Compete in Robotics - The Capital Despite Saturday's icy weather, 15 teams of middle school students - approximately 114 kids - accompanied by coaches, parents and supporters, traveled from around the region to participate. Of the five teams selected to advance to the state competition two are from Anne Arundel County including The Smarties team from the Bywater Boys and Girls Club.
Leadership Academy Scholars BGCAA is proud to announce the 2011 Leadership Academy Scholars and graduates. These graduates completed the twelve-week Leadership Academy sponsored by Towne Park in Annapolis.

Ja'Nai Turner, Admiral Oaks Youth of the Year 2010, spent 10 days in the slums of India and now sees her life in a whole new light. She was part of a 10-member team led by Nanci Ricks, co-founder of the Dalit Freedom Network and auther of "To Love The Slumdog: My Journey Serving the Untouchables."

Graduate To Go Tour - December 5 Annapolis was included on the 10-city tour sponsored by the Taco Bell Foundation for Teens and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. The Graduate To Go Outreach Tour was designed to encourage students to graduate from High School and strive for a bright future.
